IPATA Response to United Airlines PetSafe Announcement

May 2, 2018

The International Pet and Animal Transportation Association (IPATA) commends United Airlines for taking the time to review its PetSafe program and to announce conditions to allow the path forward for United's PetsSafe program to proceed. IPATA is appreciative of the announcement and ready for the acceptance of all international bookings to service United's PetSafe program.

We respect that the initial announcement for the path forward is restricting on some levels. Some of the changes that were announced yesterday will impact thousands of families and some of these changes will be very difficult to those trying to keep their families together while relocating or being stationed abroad, as with members of the U.S. military. IPATA strongly urges United Airlines to continue discussions with us and other industry pet shipping experts that move thousands of pets per year and are actively involved in pet relocation. We all want what is best for the animals and can work together to find solutions that will help us move pets safely.

IPATA will support and endeavor to work hard with United Airlines PetSafe Program and American Humane to ensure the best welfare for pet relocations moving forward.
