IPATA Frankfurt Conference Cancelled

OVER 60% of MEMBERSHIP WHO PARTICIPATED IN THE SURVEY VOTED TO CANCEL THE IPATA FRANKFURT CONFERENCE

In the light of COVID-19, no one can predict the protocols the world will adopt going forward, and certainly not as soon as October when IPATA's annual conference was scheduled to be held in Frankfurt. There are so many unknowns, such as:

  • Will we all able to travel?
  • Do we all feel it is safe?
  • Can everyone afford the travel?
  • Who may have to go into quarantine when they return home?
  • Are the hotels going to be held to government requirements related to the number of people in meeting rooms?
  • Can our contracted hotel even hold 250 attendees under new guidelines?
  • Is holding the conference safe for our attendees, their families, their employees?

These were just a few of the concerns that had to be considered. Members were surveyed for their input and, of those who participated, 64% recommended cancelling the event and holding at least some of the planned content on-line.

Based on this, the IPATA Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the Frankfurt conference.

Plans are now in the works to convert much of the educational content that was to be presented at conference into live and recorded webinars with interactive networking sessions. We’re excited about bringing this new format to our members and will provide more information on it as plans develop.
